I'm off to O2

[link to this post]

Well, I've decided after more than 6 years at PlusNet that it's time for me to move ISP so I'm off to O2.

It said a lot of how PN Customer Service now operates when their emails asked me to consider an offer to stay but none was included in the email, and they also say that I owe them 98p after more than 6 years.

Whilst James and the other reps on here are good, it's a shame to have to keep referring to them when things go wrong.

See you in the ether.

I assume you have read MKD's costing page re O2? Cashback and 3 free months make Premium the cheapest option for the first year even if your line won't do over 8Mbps.

Yes. Although cost is not the overriding factor for me. My MiL has Be (owned by same people) and the text updates are really handy and having unlimited broadband at a faster speed will be a bonus. The whole process of dealing with O2 just seems to be a lot easier than dealing with PN.

Don't play games or anything like that online so pings aren't critical to me. Good customer service is though.

Is that the offer that was missing from the email?

I also was with PlusNet for 6 years and my email from them said an offer was enclosed but no offer was made. I was not aware of the Quidco offer but as an O2 customer have 3 months free and then the cost is £7.50 monthly compared with £13.99 including referrals from Plusnet. Plusnet also charged me £20 cessation charge to change to O2. My exchange is Market 2.
I was connected to O2 yesterday, following a break in broadband of 7 days, and the speed is 5.5Mbps compared with about 3Mbps before. I hope the reliability is good.

Scott,

Mind PMing me your username? I need to check if we actually have taken the cease charge as we shouldn't have done so. I suspect you're referring to something which says that there will be some cancellation charges.

Either way, let me know and I'll check it out.

I have actually raised a question with Plusnet and await an answer. I have been happy with plusnet reliability and service for the 6 years and referred at least two friends.
My user name is scottjr with plusnet

The O2 forum has loads of posts re. trying to get interleaving switched off.
