Is value a good option?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I have a friend who is on a Market 1 exchange (THHW) currently on Sky Connect but really frustrated at how performance can vary from 6meg to <100kbps and completely randomly. His usage is 5gb/month, peaking at 8gb in one case in a 12month period.

His line is 17db attenuation, and has 8128 sync from BT, and a nice 7150kbps profile and has uptime over 500+ hours on his Sky provided router.

After looking, PlusNet Value (at £12/m after first 3 months) seems to be a "no brainer". He does no downloading, no newsgroups, no P2P. Mostly email and web browsing, with video clips on Sky Sports.com and perhaps a bit of iPlayer and/or SkyPlayer - and an iPod touch on wireless.

Can anyone see any reason not to go with Value for this user?

many thanks for your opinion,
James

With a 10 day notice period it is worth a shot - he can always go somewhere else if it doesn't suit
You are describing my type of usage and I don't have any problems with Value - peak usage was just under 10GB but I also scheduled my iPlayer downloads for the free period - another 2GB

Overall is PN better value than Madasafish considering there is network management with Madasafish, maybe that's why sadly MAAF packages appear to be more expensive compared to PN.

I would maybe shift to PN if speeds aren't throttled as there is no 10GB product with MAAF frown

Thanks, that's very useful. In my friends case his iPlayer usage is on the web site only, and not even monthly.

Now to try and get a MAC code out of Sky..! smile
