Broadband speed drop-off (again).

[link to this post]

Is it normal for bb speed to drop right down if your modem has been off for a month or so?

I'm 8kms away from my exchange, however, I've always been able to get a stable 1.5Mb connection for the past year or so. It has dropped a couple of times before and PlusNet have always managed to eventually either solve the problem or get BT out to look at the line/equipment.

I've raised this latest reoccurence with PlusNet but they are refusing, point-blank, to assist with the matter (each reply is taking around four days, if at all) and they refuse to call-out a BT engineer. When I call BT, they always say 'talk to your ISP'. PN are of the opinion that 300kb/s is my maximum but I (and they) know this to be untrue.

What can I do to get this dire service moving?

Should I just leave them and get a decent supplier who is willing to help?

I've picked that one up for you. I'll check later on and see if there's any updates for you too.

Five days later and still nothing.

Out of interest, do PlusNet have a good PR team?

well it does look bad but we can't really comment without the line statistics from your router. If you need help getting those then Kitz has a lot of help here. Its possible you've hit multiple problems, trouble with your line and plusent's recent overload.

Show us the router stats and we can probably help.

Thanks but PlusNet have confirmed it's a line fault. Just taking forever to get it sorted...

Still no resolution to this. frown I'm told "I'm not worth the expense".

Can I get bonded ADSL? Would that improve speeds? I'd be happy paying more for a better connection.

So I patiently wait six days for PlusNet to task BT and what happens? The ticket gets closed. What is the matter with you people?

FFS..........

I am glad that I am not the only one who is trying to get PlusNet to call-out a BT engineer. I have now tried 14 days! I am afraid to say, but I have found the the PlusNet reps on this forum to be quite useless.

This is clearly systematic behaviour by PlusNet and I think worth bring to the attention of a wider audience, as I am not sure they are within their rights to simply ignore customer faults.

We have requested MAC and will be leaving PlusNet. Hope your situation gets fixed or otherwise I suggest you too vote with your feet. Good luck!
