Very Poor Service from Plusnet

[link to this post]

I wonder if someone from Plusnet can help me, please.

A friend has had a broadband fault for three weeks. He is with Plusnet.

There is no DSL light, not even flickering, on his router. He has tried it on a neighbour's line and it syncs and the DSL light comes on. He has checked all the microfilters. He has also done the 17070 silent line check.

He reported it to Plusnet and BT have apparently been 3 times to the exchange. He was told that they had changed the line card and tried switching over other things. No-one has been to his house because he has been told that it isn't necessary as the problem is at the exchange.

He has contacted Plusnet several times and they tell him that the BT logs show that his line is syncing fine(although his router is not connected) and that there isn't a problem.

I would be very grateful if you could look into this as I feel he has been extremely patient yet has been treated poorly.

A couple of seemingly daft questions:-

1) Is the neighbour also with Plusnet?

2) Do any lights at all on the router come on? (Not knowing which router you have I assume there are power and ethernet lights for instance).

Hi,

If you've got a ticket number I'd be happy to take a look for you?

Mand, thanks for your offer. However, things have improved in that he has phoned again and someone at Plusnet (Nick S) has now taken personal ownership of his problem. Apparently BT have tried a "lift and shift", which didn't work, and they're going to try a "tied pair modification" next. I'll come back to you if it's not solved.

RobertoS - the neighbour isn't on Plusnet and the router power and ethernet lights are on.

I said they were daft questions smile.

But any answers other than the ones you gave could have been relevant.
