BT MSO causing slow speeds since 8th Dec

[link to this post]

BT has today owned up to a MSO which started 8 days ago:

BT Wholesale - Broadband Incident Report

Please read the following incident report as it could have an impact on some of your end users

BT Incident Reference: 30343 Issue : 1
Detected Date: 08/12/2009 Detected Time: 22:19
Start Date: 08/12/2009 Start Time: 22:15
Anticipated Clear Date: 17/12/2009 Anticipated Clear Time: 18:00

Incident Headline: EDGE SWITCH ROUTER ISSUES : ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS

Incident Details: At the moment some of your Broadband End Users will be experiencing a degradation of Broadband Service.
Progress Details: BT is making progress towards full restoration of Service.
Latest Update:
Operational teams are carrying out remote diagnostics.
Further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

Dialling Codes Affected:

(no dialling codes were listed)

This could explain a lot of the reports of inexplicably slow speeds we've seen recently. Of course we only have BT's word that it started 8 days ago.

NB. This relates to cases where speeds are way below the IP Profile speed only. If the IP Profile is low and the speed test results are near the IP Profile these are line problems which need to be investigated in the normal manner.

Goose and gander comes to mind.
I am on MaaF and my experience is that performance has improved in the last 8 days.
Is this a case of; if broken, don't fix it?
