High ms on Pro package.

Hi,

I've been having issues for the past 2 weeks or so, I purely use my connection for gaming to which im used to <30ms to any UK servers I use, lately this has been flying up to unusable highs of 100ms+ constantly. After changing gateways a number of times it comes back down to normal. When having issues and I try a speedtest its dropped around 2mbit lower than what I would expect it to be, upload bandwidth remains unchanged.

I've been with Plusnet for nearly 2 years now and this is the first type of problem ive had like this, previously these are the sort of issues which cause me to move ISP as its "normally" due to oversubscribed pipes, im not saying this is the case for Plusnet but it has been for my 2 previous ISP's.

Im on the Pro package and have also been regraded to Max Premium. Im synced at 8142/832 which has never dropped from this since having ADSL here, im also plugged into the main (and only) socket in my house, im using a brand new Linksys router with the latest firmware, a new microfilter and do not use any PSTN extensions.

*Unrelated but I seem to be capped at 6.5mbit download despite syncing at 8142 and previously being able to speedtest over 7mbit, is there any Plusnet reason for this?

If you PM me (or Bob, Chris or Mand) your PN username we'll be able to take a look at this for you. Sounds like interleaving may have been applied to the line, though we'll know for sure after having a look.

Interleaving giving a 70ms increase?

I have the exact problem at the moment and its found something very strange, I can ping the gaming server im connected to from windows under 20ms but when pinging in HLSW or in game I have 90ms+ ? I can only assume this is to do with the port the server is using? I have also disabled my AV and Firewall whilist doing these tests.

Speedtest is coming back fine at 6.6mbit as I would expect it to.

Just changed gateway to 195.166.128.81 and im now pinging the same server at 12ms through HLSW and in game, surely this cannot be a problem my end.

Erratic high gaming pings on the Pro package like you are experiencing are the reason I left Plusnet. I got bored of taking ages going through their "test" script and having to escalate faults to get any non robotic response from them when it was very clear the fault was in their traffic management.

Now I am with Zen for several months and the pings are slightly higher but very stable. If gaming is important to you I would look at changing ISP as unless every game / server configuration you play on is listed in their traffic priority list you will get this kind of problem repeatedly even on pro.

The gateways are badly out of balance following problems earlier today.

Yeah I saw from an email earlier, however ive had the same problem for weeks now.

The network has been frequently out of balance over the last month or so!

I feel this may be the cause then, as it was always fine before god damn.
