poor speed

[link to this post]

How comes plusnet tell me there's a problem with their system and I cant get my correct speed at my new house, router gives stable connection at 7,6meg but I am trapped on 2meg......

Cant say they seem bothered to much about it as there is no time frame to rectify the problem as far as they are concerned.

Surprise ! I am and so I'll be giving them ten days to sort or I'll be off with my MAC code

Oh and had all the rubbish about line speed and quality of line!, i'm just 2km from exchange.

Run the BT speedtest and report the IP Profile and go to https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer... and report Current Line Speed

Router figures

Data rate 7616 448

Noise margin 6.6 24.0
Output power 19.8 11.9
Attenuation 37.0 22.0

Current adsl.org speed test is 3.1meg and thats as high as it gets
Bt speed test rejects test as number not recognised.

Not sure what you refer to as this is what I see on your link minus my number of course

Phone exchange:
PEMBROKE
Estimated line speed:
0.5 - Checked on 2010-02-17 11:14:25
Current line speed: Not set

It may not be relevant, but I had a fault presenting with similar symptoms, and it turned out to be a "jumpering" issue at the exchange. It started out with my connection seeming to be "capped" at 2 megs (although I could sync at more than twice that), and being unable to authenticate on the BT Speedtest.

Keep pushing, I did get mine fixed eventually. But because it's a relatively unusual fault (not one covered by the Helpdesk script!) you need to persevere to find anyone who knows what you're on about. I highlighted it to the reps here, eventually, as I got nowhere with the ticketing system.

That means that the BT automated systems haven't reported an IP Profile so Plusnet haven't set one.
The fact that your number isn't recognised by the BT Speedtester is very worrying.
You should raise a ticket or phone in.
With this sort of difficult problem the Comms Team can often assist. They may pick it up here or you could try posting on the Plusnet forums

Hi maxedout,

If you can drop me (or one of the other PN reps) a PM with your username we'll be able to check that the profile on our side matches BTs - as Oldjim has said it's likely that this is the cause. We'll likewise be able to advise if it is something more complicated.

Right that's now sorted for you, cheers for the PM. Please get in touch if there's anything else we can do.
