Come on Plusnet Support

[link to this post]

Been with Pnet for 2 years, no issues in the duration. My connection went down last Friday, and now, still down.
Keep getting an authentication error in the router logs. The last I heard from Pnet support was that it was a BT issue. Come on now, it's been 1 week tomorrow. This really needs actioned before my request to migrate goes in.
Last update...
We would like to inform you that your Help Assistant Question [ 32469648 ] has now been returned to the BOT - DSL Logged Faults - Auth pool. A member of our Support Team will investigate your issue as soon as possible.

Hi there,

Looks like an engineer visit has been requested - I've updated the ticket on your account, if you could let us know when you're available I'll get this booked for you?

I have updated the ticket, although I will ask the same question here, why the requirement for an engineer to visit here when it is an authentication error. I have tried a new router and filters, unplugged all extensions and connected straight to the master socket. Still getting an authentication error, I can connect no problem using bt_test@startup_domain though.
So I don't see how it can be an internal wiring fault.

because if he can't find a problem at the exchange he will need to come to your house to do further tests - including if you are lucky a Hawk Test to find out where the problem is between you and the exchange

I understand that, but if i am able to connect using the bt test account surely that would rule out anything between me and the exchange
Edit: Whats a Hawk test BTW?

This is from the Router Logs, time and date is out due to not connecting to a time server

The Hawk Tester is a piece of kit used for testing the copper wires.
Regarding your problem you could well be correct but a test at the exchange can't check if they have fixed the problem (assuming that they can find it) and they may want to come to your property to see if they have.
I must admit I would have expected that the problem you are seeing would be something at Plusnet's end unless some idiot has done some jumpering at the exchange when trying to fix someone else's problem and mucked you up.

Yeah, last time I spoke to someone at Pnet they said it was a misconfiguration at the exchange, cant remember exact details.
I dont fully understand how the authentication works, is it, as you say, cabled at the exchange and then authenticated by a pnet server? So in theory change the jumper and give me a new login, or is that infeasible?
