Billed twice for first month?

A friend recently signed up to Plusnet Value and I think he may have been billed twice for the first month. He signed up on 18/03/2010, and was activated on 25/03/2010.

18/03/2010 Billed £12.98 for
- £5.99 ADSL Initial Subscription
- £6.99 Postage And Packaging Cost

25/03/2010 Billed £5.99 for
- Value charge for the period 25-03-2010 to 24-04-2010

I've asked Plusnet via ticket for clarification about this, no reply after 24 hours so I thought I'd raise it here. Am I right in thinking that "ADSL Initial Subscription" should cover the first month?

A nice little earner. I wonder how many customers are unaware of this billing error. Then again I suppose it's their own fault for not checking the invoices.

I am now pretty sure I got double billed when I joined, but I can't do anything now, I've left.

It seems the system should either take £5.99 at signup or £5.99 on activation. In this case it is doing both!

You can indeed do something about it. If they have taken the money from you that they should not have done you are still entitled to it back - you do not have to be a current customer.
