Upload Speed Concern

[link to this post]

Sorry, yet another thread!

Having got my ADSL back yesterday smile We now seem to have an interesting problem with upload speeds in the 10's of K/bits rather than the usual 300-350Kbps. Interestingly the download side seems higher than before - nearer 6Mbps than 5.5...

Now I know it's asymmetric, but why would the upload be soooo squeezed to such a narrow "band" allowing only 10's of Kbits compared to 100's before. Uploading *anything* is a nightmare (even sending an email looks like dialup days) and running any of the tests out there look as though they've died when it comes to the upload test part. frown

BT also checked out the line and confirmed all ok yesterday as part of the exchange work they did.

We are on the PN Pro package and the Draytek 2800vg router (ADSL Firmware Version: E.38.2.23) stats are now:

Up: 448 / Down: 7616
SNR: 9.0
Loop attentuation: 22

Thanks in anticipation of any help etc.
Graham

Any chance we can see the full stats?

SNR and attenuation for both download and upload.

There's a discrepancy there on the upstream. Can we have the full telnetted stats please?

Heh!!

That's better.

Why have you also replaced the figures in the previous post with these?

No-one who didn't see them will know what I'm on about.

For info to others - there were only two or three lines, the two I remember being the downstream and upstream Max, two values for each.

The upstream had 344 344 or 334 334, which didn't tie in with the OP of 448kbps. Which is the figure shown in this full list.

So where the 344/334 344/334 came from I have no idea.

Except that the upload is still in 10's of K....so it's not really ok. These are just the synch numbers afterall. My concern is the *actual* upload speed and why it is so low compared to the 340Kbps or so normally seen?

The previous post was a summary of the sync and actuals one for up and one for downstream. As this confused, it seemed best to show the total picture and not to summarise.

The problem however, is why is this happening and what can be done to resolve!

Press Ctl+Alt+Del, then click on the "Networking" tab, you should be able to see if the PC is uploading anything at that moment.

Also go to local area connection and see if your PC is sending more packets than it is receiving.

As per my PM, we don't rate limit uploading at all.

I've done a quick check and there are no errored seconds so it doesn't appear to be a line fault as such.

Have you rebooted your router and computer? Tried ethernet if you're using wireless? Full virus scan?

Wired.
AV scanned.
Rebooted.

As per PM, it's almost like some bandwidth is now on the d/s side at the expense of the u/s side...not sure if that could ever happen or how hard the divide between the two is on adsl. U/load is literally 1/3 the normal throughput.
