We can't force DNS servers onto your router if you override them. It's possible that the router is mis-configured and is accepting our DNS servers issued over DHCP instead of the ones manually assigned.

You can also assign DNS servers on your computer.

You can use any combination of ours:

212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50
212.159.6.9
212.159.6.10

And for testing, google's are good:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

You can test the time taken (subjectively) by opening up a command window and typing:

nslookup google.com <IP of DNS server>

Obviously you can substitute google.com for plus.net or any other domain that you would like to check.

It might be advisable to run the following command first:

ipconfig /flushdns

This clears your local cache so you can then run nslookup without specifying a DNS server.

Thanks Ben.

I didn't think an override could be forced, but the PlusNet Servers are what it's reporting. Having since looked into it a bit more, I believe the DNS I have assigned are in use...so the router's reporting seems to be incorrect.

Have flushed the DNS cache already, but will certainly try a few more servers.

The Plusnet site certainly is slow (DNS asside) taking a minute or more to display any page....

If I'm not mistaken each image displayed can cause a DNS lookup to find it as well.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

Good grief, that certainly won't help if that's how it's been constructed...

I'm tempted to ask if there's a dialup option rather than this so called BROADband as I'm sure the old 56k dialup was faster! Uploads are still in 10's of K and despite good sync etc, the throughput frankly, is dire.

Something is not right here. The speeds were fine under Waitrose and given the commonality of network etc, I truly cannot believe what a PITA this is...I've given up browsing the web for info as it's taking an eternity to do anything!!!!

Please report this at http://faults.plus.net so that we can look into it for you.

If all else fails, I can regrade you to Max Premium (up to 832kbps upload) to see if that helps.
