Re: ADSL 1??

Okay if you check your telephone number on the plusnet website does it give you market 2/3 pricing or market 1?

Unlimited is available on all the exchanges where ADSL/ADSL2 and ADSL2+ are available, just the price varies. The length of your telephone line will dictate the actual speeds.

Re: Plusnet to provide unlimited broadband

Having thought about this a bit more and used the TB migration tool, I am concerned that the phone side of the equation may delay the broadband migration. I'm with O2 for broadband, BT for line rental and TalkTalk for calls (CPS). Anybody had this combination or similar when migrating to PN? How long did/does it take and were/are there any problems encountered that I should be aware of?

TB migration tool? What's that?

From what you say, you intend to have both Plusnet broadband and Plusnet Home Phone. Is that correct? If so I would cancel the CPS before doing anything, as long as that doesn't tie you into a 12-month BT Retail call package.

If you are only moving the broadband my guess would be that there would be no problem.

As for the timescale, a fibre migration before some time in January seems very unlikely.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.0/14.9Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Thanks for the response.

thinkbroadband (TB) have a migration tool here: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/migration.html#m... laugh

Yes I intend to move broadband and home phone to Plusnet.

Not sure why I would be tied into a BT Retail call package by cancelling my CPS with TalkTalk as I can make calls using BT now by dialling 1280 to override the CPS. BUT I am going to find out!!

Yes, sadly I think you are right about the migration timescale due to the time of year as much as anything... Shame as it means I will have to swallow billing cycles on both O2 and BT before the switch takes place frown

I'd only checked in Tools smile.

I agree it's unlikely. I was just worried that they might start you on a 12-month call package. (That can be paid off quite cheaply if necessary, it wouldn't be anything at all to do with the rental).

See this thread - all happened today. But it looks like broadband only. Phone and Broadband seem to take longer.

Good luck.

Thanks for this RobertoS.

I checked with both TalkTalk and BT earlier and there appears to be no issues with the phone side of things. It just takes longer for it to be moved over...

I also got my MAC off O2 (by email within the hour) but now have to wait 7 days to avoid the 'express termination fee' frown Not sure that this sort of thing should be allowed by Ofcom, especially as I am out of contract: what's the point anyway??

I calculate that I will now get the broadband migrated by the second or third week in January providing I get an early enough engineer appointment!!

In effect it is saying that although you are on a monthly contract, you only have to give seven days notice, not one month. So no OfCom rules broken.

If they had worded it that way, everyone would think it was great. Instead, this complaint keeps coming up - not surprisingly. The idiots! (O2)

a) 18 months for fibre
b) it is a better value product, so asking them to stay 12/18 months doesn't seem that bad (and anyway, an existing customer is generally happy with the service, so adding a period to the minimum term, since this is not a rolling contract (is it Jim!), for those opting to switch, is just a method of retaining customers, surely).

I know I'll switch to it sometime, but billing was the 18th for me, and had hoped to be on fibre by next billing date. S*d's law means Openreach has now delayed another three months (had been September 2012, currently March 2013) so no chance in the near future.
