Adam, thank you for making that clear to me! RobertoS, many thanks for raising the "ticket" regarding to clarify whether to be able/not able to keep the PN phone without the fibre broadband in near future!

Plusnet Talk Service Terms

2. The Talk Service terms and Price guide operates independently to the Broadband Service terms and Price guide. Any change to these terms do not impact your Broadband Terms and any changes to your Broadband Terms do not impact these Talk terms.
But I don't see PN Talk as a product on their site. Did they ever?

It also seems that keep my current BT phone line is more "independent", but slightly more expensive

Acknowledge you lose advantage of internet + phone line/calls package deals PN does, but have you considered Primus (just for the line). A lot depends on your calling pattern as to best option, but for a simple cheap line rental deal with no "included calls" (I just use 1899.com for the few calls made, and when I do call 01/02/03 it's a flat 5p, no matter if it is 5 minutes or 5 hours) then Primus may serve. No problem using PN as ISP (it's what I'm using now, submitting this post).

Yes, there's a minimum contract, but even during that you'd pay less per month (and be paying monthly) than the 'lump sum in advance' 'discount' deals that BT and others offer.

I don't know what the minimum fee is nowadays - possibly around 8 quid a month, but it does get mention on MoneySavingExpert.com and elsewhere (though obviously you will want to avoid any phone line/calls + internet deals they are currently pushing).

Thank you for your suggestion! However, regarding to Primus I am afraid I will give it a miss as I heard a lot of horrible stories from Forum such as "Review Centre.com".

I've signed up to the Scottish Hydro Electric version although it's all SSE (12 month contract), have a look and see what you think smile

....... link .......

Edit > forgot to say there is a 3 months free line rental promotion on just now, it can be seen on the website.

Thanks for that. Looks interesting. Might use them for 2 or 3 free months, then switch back to Primus at 6.99/month (and the cost, at 1.25/month {PN please note!} for remainder of 12 month contract, makes the time spent with them cost between 4 and 6 quid per month, depending on duration)!
