Nope. The router is what establishes the PPP connection with your ISP. The modem only connects to the exchange kit, which on non-LLU is nothing to do with the ISP.

I'm assuming you are with Plusnet now, not O2? If on unlimited you can get a static IP for a one-off £5.

That would explain why it acts differently to o2 then. I don't need a static IP, was just curious.

I have TG582n with BE, new issue one year ago.

Personally I find the wireless stable at short range, which is about all you'll get. The range is short, much worse than an old WGR614v8 or DG834. I realise range is something affected by the condistions, but the TG582n seems to worse given the exact same room/location/conditions.
