But ideally then there would be an off switch.

In much the same way as email services should have an off switch for the spam filter in case the client wants to use their own.

Oliver.

Nobody is forced to use PlusNet broadband. If you don't like the Ford Mondeo, you buy something else.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

I kinda view Pro as that off switch. There is still some prioritisation going though, so it's not completely unmanaged.

I wasn't suggesting they were, just saying that something which is intended for the customers' benefit (as Kelly says) might come with an off switch for those with a different view.

The view of one potential customer (i.e. me) is that Plusnet would me more attractive (to me) were there to be an off switch (as opposed to the re-prioritisation switch) which removes the management entirely.

I do understand though that it is not entirely about managing traffic for the customers' benefit, but also managing load across your network as a whole.

We scale for bronze queue traffic, so it's not about keeping bandwidth down specifically. It does help us look after the network (aka protect higher priority traffic) in an outage/MSO/disruptive maintenance scenario though.

Ok. There was something wrong with your account set up. I'm not sure if it was causing the difference though. It MAY have meant that before you added Pro, our DPI platform wasn't sure what profile to apply to you which might explain it. Adding Pro pushed a new message to it which meant it knew what profile you needed to get.

We've fixed your account now and would like to see if you still see the download speed differences between Pro and non Pro. Are you ok with helping us test that?

If so, we'll remove Pro and refund you the £5 you paid for it and you can let us know if the experience changes back.
