What exactly, as kasg asks, is the point of this thread, particularly since the explanation of tracert that you may be ignoring?

IIRC I read the original post last night, and even though it was ever so slightly difficult to understand, all l I think Stanman was posting was a compliment that his pings are really good, and that he couldn't even get pings as good as that at work -- People have misinterpreted what he said as a complaint when actually it was a compliment. Therefore the whole topic has been blown out of proportion.

Yes, I see now, but I was particularly confused by the subsequent post from Sadoldman, who had also taken it as a complaint and had apparently edited the post because it contained swearing. FWIW 10ms is pretty normal for non-interleaved FTTC.
