I did think about that but ruled it out as our street lights actually turn off at 11.45pm until 6am so that the Council can save a few £s

Got home at 4.30 after work and the connection was down altogether. Rang Plusnet and call answered within 10secs! Long story short, they ran line test and I'm now awaiting a date for Engineer visit.

There was a major outage at 6pm affecting a huge number of customers, I am still unable to reconnect. Big thread about it in the Community forum.

That explains why I was able to get iOS 8 without any issues on my iPad (I wasn't disconnected!).

All the email updates from Linn seem to be saying FTTC wasn't affected.

Tickets can take days to be looked at, and each time you update one it goes to the back of the queue.
Perhaps the best approach is to update the ticket with salient detail, then phone Support about it.
warning I have tried the tactic of placing high detail in a ticket, and the phoning to jump the ticket queue, both times I did this the operator opened a new ticked and deleted the original.

It jolly well was and I never saw any suggestion it wasn't. I was down for over six hours, by far the, worst outage I've ever had.

I didn't see anything from Linn that suggested that!
Edit: In fact the only thing relevant was where it was pointed out that on FTTC it is the router and not the modem that had to be powered down for an hour - i.e. FTTC definitely affected. Had you misinterpreted that posting?
