I assume in your opening post you mean 9.9 Megabits per second down and 0.8 Megabits per second up. Not MegaBytes.

If so, then 38/19Mbps is a dramatic improvement.

In any case you can upgrade to 78/19 at any time if you wish. You just do it in your Member Centre (think Control Panel) and it takes effect on your next billing date.

It means you restart your 18 months, but I did it 11 months into mine just for the hell of it at a difference of £2.50pm. See my connection speeds in my sig, I don't need the extra speed, but may do in the future I suppose.

Megabits,,I think smile.. It all confuses me the different terms somewhat smile

Do you know what plusnets traffic prioritisation would make of my VPN. Would it cause any problems?, I don't use it every day. And not for to long when I do.it is cyberghostvpn

Sky said that plus-nets management system could reduce me down to a lot less than I have now as they don't advertise what you could run at if they slow you down.I know this is partly sales, and I am not one to listen to sales techniques, but it has thrown a little doubt into an 18 months deal and not being able to torrent when I want to grab something.
Complete [censored]!

Plusnet's traffic management will be applied to your line. So for example if three people in the house are watching streaming, P2P will be slowed down but the streaming will be unaffected.

There are some aspects of the Plusnet service which are less than ideal at present (e.g. waiting times on the phone), but the traffic management is actually a very positive feature.

Thank you, I've read that link and if seems OK.

Just clarify in simple terms, have I understood it right. roughly if my internet was say 10meg. I was downloading at full speed. I then started an iPlayer stream which took say 5meg, and I was also on the Xbox and that took 1meg.. The p2p would get 4meg?

RE the support from plusnet I understand the wait time are not ideal, however do they sort problems out. When I was with be* I started having frequent disconnections. I didn't even ring just went on the forum. Within an hour support replied and they tested the line for 24hours (or there about) it down disconnections. They sent a router out. Which didn't solve it,then sent an SFI engineer out. Who found a fault and fixed it. It was good service. Sky who I'm with are poor. I've been trying to get them to sort my upload out for months now, because I don't have skys DLM line thing they say they can't do anything. How do plusnet compare to.

Apologise for all the questions,I just want to make the correct move. smile

Without Netflix http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3832464711
With Netflix (HD) http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3832468102

So, streaming HD netflix will eat up 30Mbps on Apple TV 1080p HD

I'm sure something else is going on there - the largest size stream is around 6 meg from Netflix? What they used to call Super-HD for a while.

There is a test stream you can run "Example Video" on netflix and on the apple tv and my samsung bluray player it shows a 5800kbps stream at the highest quality. The sound is a test pattern so you might want to mute.

plusnet unlimited fibre - 2 Jun 14 - 470m - 80/20 - Summer/dry sync 55/9.4, Winter/wet sync 52/9.1
