Just as Plusnet are a far better and successful company than they were before the takeover smile. The difference between Plusnet and BT is just as marked as between Skoda and VW.

The difference is that VW is highly respected, so pointing out that the resurgent Skoda belongs to them is an explanation, whereas saying Plusnet is a brand name of BT to me implies a slur - given how poor BT Retail is when it comes to consumer level support.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.4/14.5Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4BQM IPv6BQM

PlusNet were an amazing company 10 years ago. They were a real techies ISP with amazing support and good value products. They then had a pretty serious dip as they became more and more mainstream. They seem to be on the up again but I wouldn't say they have managed to get back to how good they were in their prime.

Plusnet better than BT, would not have a clue. I am with BT and have not had a problem in last 2 years.
How are you judging BT for support? Do you have recent call to use?

Plusnet 3 BT 0 today

Far worse than BT. Never seen so many switching jobs screw up connecting to another provider. Tickets and phone response seem even worse than when I was with them. Begin to wonder if there is such a thing as a good supplier. Ticket ignored by Zen after they switched me to the wrong higher priced phone package. May as well pay Primus or TT prices.

I'm happy with the comparison of Plusnet being the Skoda of BT's VW and I look forward to adverts made of cake wink

I've not had any trouble with BT Retail consumer support and some of the posters in their Community forums are clearly expert.

Don't people there get banned for dissent and complaining about non-resolution of long-standing complaints?

They basically get banned for aggressive or disruptive posting, just like a lot of forums

Don't worry - "they'll do you proud"

Or "they'll do you".

That's a plusnet aka BT second brand thing.

Enjoy!

Well I've just had a reply from Plusnet support agreeing that the email is incorrect but saying that the advance line rental is being tracked correctly and "Your bill should be generated correctly moving forward". Surely these emails are generated automatically so there must be dozens of incorrect ones being sent out.

Plusnet are Skoda to BT's VW.
PN's UK support is Rolls Royce quality when compared to BT's Indian script monkeys. You may have to wait a bit but at least PN's support actually try to help their users.

At least the Indian script monkeys answered within 5-10 minutes and as a non-techie I found them very helpful. After years with BT I moved to Plusnet this summer, largely on the recommendations on this website. Plusnet cut us off on transfer day, it proved impossible to reach phone support, and on the one occasion when my wife did get a reply (after 35 minutes) the agent was uncaring and unhelpful. From my experience since then, and postings here and on PN's own forum, I fear Plusnet has expanded too quickly, as TalkTalk did six years ago, and is rapidly throwing away its reputation and goodwill.

The reps who patrol this website are excellent but if they are diverted to other duties PN may regret it. My PN connection is fine (except when like thousands of customers we've been cut off, as happened last month) but I cannot recommend them on the basis of my first five months.
