The box seems pretty good, I've had mine for a week. It should be £50 from plusnet but that £1 offer mentioned above gets you the box for free. These are similar to retail boxes that cost £150.

I assume that's for the straightforward Youview box, rather than the Youview+ box (which includes a hard disk)?

No it's the 500GB Youview+ PVR, it's the Humax T-2100 but with Plusnet branding which makes it the T-2120.

Ah, cool, that sounds like a decent deal. Thanks for putting me right.

Is it a good box?

I'm guessing there's little chance of being able to add the pay BT Sport channels to the Plusnet Youview service in the future, as I guess BT will want to keep that for its 'premium' own brand offering, i.e. BT Broadband / BT Infinity.

It strikes me as odd that Plusnet sells access to BT Sport to its customers via Sky, but do not offer it through their own platform.

It is a good box, and a great deal IMO. It's locked down when you compare it to something like the HDR-FOX T2, no custom firmware etc. But it's extremely quick when you compare it to the Huawei DN370T that I was using before.

It will take a very long time to boot if it's in Eco-mode, but you can turn this off. The main selling point, I think, is the integration of all the catchup services, scroll back in the EPG and select a programme and it will automatically load in the respective catchup player. The remote recording app for Android and IOS is handy, not quite as good as the Sky+ app as you can only manage recordings that you have set from the app. It also has Netflix.

Good review here:

Excellent review smile

its worth noting the plusnet box does support Netflix. It's mentioned in the review that the BT box doesn't offer this.

I have had 80/20 fibre for a while and pay £20/month for it (plus line rental and phone)..

I asked about £1/week and was told I could have £4 discount on the broadband and the +box would be free.

So £24 for 24 months with a free +box seems pretty reasonable, however, what kind of retention deal could I get if I threatened to leave?

Anyone else get a 80/20 retention deal?

I gave up after waiting 10 minutes on the phone.

Not sure what the offer is, as Plusnet emailed me today. The mail implies that the box is free and that the basic channels are too.

I'm on 80/20 fibre at £10 a month for 2 years (retention deal back in March) so I guess it's unlikely they'll just give me a box and service for free.

We'll see when I give 'em a call tomorrow..
