PN Customer Service

[link to this post]

I am having FTTP installed for my father-in-law, 200 miles away, to replace FTTC. As a named contact PN will deal directly with me.

Received a message that the hub had been sent - and called them yesterday for further details. PN adviser said he would let e know when there was a tracking number. Got a call at 8:30 this morning to tell me, followed by a text and he also conformed it would be posted through the letter box. 10/10 for the adviser.

Royal Mail - "tried to deliver" but as no one coudl answer the door, they took it back - could not be bothered to post it. They will try again tomorrow - same result! And it is needed for Friday.

PN, OpenReach and I have worked this all through, dates, times &c only for Royal Fail to put a spanner in the works! Fortunately I have spare BT Business and Residential hubs, with WAN/FTTP inputs, here, so if Royal Fail fail again, there is a backstop.

Can't fault PN for service on a personal level, although some things company wise e.g. billing can be a nightmare.

Royal Mail on the other hand ........

Trying to return a package ATM and none of the newsagents Parcelforce have employed to replaced the closed Post Office are any help here. frown

At the risk of seeming pedantic, can I defend my former employer.

Royal Mail and Parcelforce are two of the brands owned by International Distribution Services, the partially-privatised logistics company which which has lots of problems of it own.

However, your problem is not with Royal Mail but with the Post Office which is still wholly government owned and which handles the retail interface. This is very much a franchised operation with only a few Post Office owned and managed sites. If you do not have adequate collection arrangements because the Post Office have ceased the contract with one of their existing agents or closed one of their own branches then that is within the Post Office remit rather International Distribution Services and you should take up your problems with the Post Office rather than Royal Mail.

Fair enough, but at the end of the day it reflects on Parcelforce.

Have you ever tried to contact them as a "customer"?
