I regularly use spybot Addaware and AntiVir , but i keep sending unsolicited messages to my contacts about diet pills and a link. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Register (or login) on our website and you will not see this ad.

Have you changed your password?

Scans find nothing, i did however find a contact that i never added, i deleted it and blocked. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I just did it a few mins ago.

That's all I can think. Someone's cracked your hotmail password and is just using your account to spam from another computer.

Would they not of changed the password tho, to stop me gaining access ?
Maybe, idk. It's probably just a bot that brute forces 100s of accounts at a time and spams for a long as it can get away with it. Changing passwords with a bot might be too difficult to code.

Cheers for that, changed password and done everything possible my end to stop it
I wonder if any of them prawn sites i visit had anything to do with it
Probably was one of those phishing sites.
Yea its been phishing me off

Download the trial version of sunbelt VIPRE - I would be suprised if that didn't detect it.
Dont enable actrive protection during setup, just run a deep scan when its up and running

I also had this issue. Every time I login to Messenger I get a few friend requests from spammers. I set it to block these people. Is there anyway you can remove these from your "Block List" i.e. like it was before they added me? I don't understand why Messenger doesn't just have a "Delete Contact" option where thats all it does deletes the contact and assumes you have never known this person. Instead of blocking and deleting etc. Thus they cannot chat to you and you cannot chat to them.

All it found was a couple of tracking cookies.

Hmm wired, if you go into your Documents and Settings folder, and Application Data (if i remember correctly), is there a small .exe file in there? That is normally the virus that causes it.
You can often spot the .exe in task manager, though if you don't know what to look for it might be difficult.
Could you post (or PM me) the output of a hijackthis log and I will try my best to spot whats doing it.

I think that a bot hacked my msn account, now that i have changed passwords it seems to be ok.

If that is the case, you might want to go around changing passwords on any online accounts else that you use hotmail for. If you're sensible that would of been zero, but I know some ppl use hotmail for banking and ebay etc.
