Totally disagree, prevention is always better than cure.
If only it was as easy as you say:

There is loads of malware that is not resolved as easily as you evidently think.
What I 'think' is
not evident. You're placing
your own interpretation on what I posted.
My point was that the antivirus components effectiveness/ineffectiveness is not changed by the vulnerability alerts.
I am
fully aware that no packages are totally 100% effective, but spurious warnings are not helpful.
As the OP states, one element advised an update to reslove a potential vulnerability, but he already has the suggested update installed!!

I've just run Secunia on my machine and it shows Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 as being
'Vunerable' and advises updating to version 9.0.0.463 (the latest available)
This version is
already installed, and has been for weeks
As I stated, spurious alert are not helpful.
