Indian call centres selling UK personal bank details

Personal bank details are being harvested and sold on by criminal elements working inside indian call centers. According to the Sun, UK ISP's in particular are prime targets with personal bank details being sold for as little as 25p per head.

If true it's depressing. Unfortunately the "real" criminals are those who give out are details in a way which can easily be harvested. Call centre staff might need access to my details to verify my identity, they don't need bulk access to a database to extract everyones details.

Another one for the "hardy surprising" of the week. These people are being paid abysmal wages to spend all day on the phone. The ramifications of them passing on bank details et cetera is much lower than what would happen if you was to do it in this country. You could say they don't have anything to lose!
