I can't answer your question sorry but I cant see how it would be any use to anyone with a personal desktop tbh.. Is there something inparticular you need it for?

No, nothing at all. A pal of mine raves about it, I just didn't know if it was any good or not.

It looks to me more suited to corporate networks where they need to inpsect all their systems to see if they are patched up, if they have all the windows updates, if there are any programs such as remote access, ftp server being ran on them, etc. Can't see it being much to us, but that won't stop them selling it naturally!

I use it when asked to look at family or friends pcs, just to check if they are fully patched and up to date. As well as the window patches it also checks for updates/patches for many other software programmes and provides a link to the updates. It's also free for personal use.

If you don't want to load the software you can have an Online Scan instead.

It sounds similar to Belarc. Pity that CIS benchmark isn't available for Vista.

Been using it ages and find it generally very good
Was also looking at their software for networks and their support was excellent
If you don't have a lot of apps installed and mostly just MS stuff, it's probably not worth it, but it you are using a lot of apps it helps to keep tabs on whether you have the latest versions
