I've just had one of these

Having used PayPal yesterday, I nearly fell for this one!

Both Paypal and Ebay only send emails personally, to the name that you gave them when you registered. If it isn't addressed to you personally, it's a fake.

Despite my love of computers and the internet, I confess to being quite phobic when it comes to both PayPal and eBay - in fact, I made my very first eBay purchase yesterday (through PayPal). The fact that I've never received a fake PayPal email previously, hasn't lessened my phobia about eBay - 'though I'm sure it is just coincidence!

It's a phobia that lots of people share. I've been buying and selling on Ebay for several years now (my Ebay feedback profile is nearly 400), and I've only been stitched up once, and that was by the Metropolitan Police crazy

I was stitched up recently. The seller had responded to a Phishing email and a third party listed an item under his name, it was just to get funds. Fortunately Paypal refunded me.

Also, both of them sign all of their emails using DKIM. So unless there is a valid DKIM signature it is a fake.

This is where Mailwasher (Free for a single account) comes into it's own.

Unfortunately, that cannot be easily downloaded and in any cases, it's impossible to install.
