Malwarebytes Premiun Lifetime version cancelled.

[link to this post]

I've been running MBAM Lifetime Premium for several years now and have pretty much left it to it's own devices just checking once or twice a month that all was in order. Checking today, I find that I'm now running the free version.

Looking into what has happened, their help system tells me that, "Malwarebytes no longer offers lifetime subscriptions. Existing lifetime subscriptions cannot be upgraded or modified." As I've always had MBAM set to auto update and the latest one has effectively cancelled my full version, there are only two choices, either purchase a 12 month licence or just run the free version.

I only came across this by chance. I would have thought that there should at least be some sort of warning.

I'll have to keep an eye on my PC to make sure that the system is not still disabling Windows Defender every time I boot just because MBAM is running.

Natwest bank customers used to be able to run the full version of Malware bytes for free.

Sadly this stopped failrly recently, though you are suppose to be able to get the full version for a reduced price.

I googled the issue, and everyone I found was able to register their licence again on the new version.

Having tried several proprietary packages I found W10 Defender every bit as good and better than some. Being of Scottish ancestry, I'm pleased to have saved quite an amount over the past few years.

Presumably by paying for a 12 month subscription.

Have you tried activating M5 with your key.

The issue has been raised on the malwarebytes forum.

Many thanks for that link. After reading it through a couple of times I realised where I was going wrong (I wasn't de-registering my old installation before trying to re-activate). Anyway I take all of it back (nearly - it shouldn't be as difficult as it is), and I now have a working premium version again.
