Sky give you a wireless router which you have to use.

Unless you break the T&C's and used your own router, but the sky router offers both wired and wirless connectivity

True, but I guess you have to use it at least once to extract the username and password
Good point about the router offering wired connection, kind of answers the question.

Thanks for the help the wired option is good to know and as i am on a monthly contract the sky deal is looking tempting at 5 a month plus setup fee.

The router Sky provide is a 'wireless' router but it does also have 4 ethernet ports on the back. If you deselect the wireless option this in fact 'turns off' the wireless capability.

You can in theory use any router you like but you will be breaking your T's + C's if you do and Sky can terminate your contract if you get found out.
