how can i check what i am I.E adsl 1 or adsl2 on the netgear 834gt router, what page in the router page can i check this on?

I think what you are looking for is maybe "Router Status". I don't think a router actually tells you if you are ADSL 1 or 2 ... the router will just provide your stats:
Line Rate
Noise Margin
Line Attenuation .. etc..

Maybe if you find this information, and then paste info into a post someone more technically on here than me may be able to tell you if you should be on ADSL1 or 2 depending on ya stats..
