Latest Sky Policy?

[link to this post]

I am 'reliably'? informed by Sky CS that they no longer despatch hardware to connect customers until BT have activated the line. That now means I have up to 5 days without a useable connection as my previous ISP ceased my provision yesterday when Sky was activated. GREAT!!!

Mine arrived on Day 4 of the 5 working days, typically a weekend was right in the middle so was without BB for a week.

Look on the bright side it gives you a chance to try dial-up again, makes you really appreciate broadband when the router arrives.

.I have a router sitting next to me from Sky.

My line was due to be connected today, but my order was rejected by the Sky system, and apparently they will try to place it again next week.. My original order was on the 1st May so this is all fairly recent.

So there you go: they do send the routed before line is activated sometimes at the present time

This is still the case, apparently, for base, mid and max customers, but not for connect customers. They say that situations, such as yours, where provision fails has left them at a loss when people haven't returned routers - strange to say the least (and I'm not suggesting for one minute that you won't return yours if your provision fails)

Many routers in this house, no special need for the Sky one, they will have it back eventually if it all fails.

Well thats the problem, you DO need the special Sky one. You can't use just any router, since you aren't given any login details(they are hidden in the router they provide you), and its against their T&C's to use just any router. There are ways around it though, but they will know if you aren't using the router thats provided.

And yes, i received my router over a week ago and my line was activated this morning. In fact, i hadn't even been given an activation date! Was just surfing this morning and my F2S connection dropped and i couldn't get back online. I'm not complaining though since i only put my order in at the beginning of last week.
