ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 16mb to 24mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.

This is a rough guide only, and provides results of up to 24mb with the data made available to us. This is purely for indication only and should not be classed as the Speed that you will receive on any ISP's product. Due to the fact that your Telephone Line does not run in a straight line from the Exchange, the Distance from Exchange figures, are interpreted as if your Telephone Line is that exact length. In reality, it is highly unlikely that this is the case.

So you should sync at around 15323 hopefully

Thanks for the quick response soundsystem, out of interest when you undertake the adsl+2 test do you add both readings together or just use the highest?

The Line Attenuation option is the most reliable, I wouldn't bother using the line length as it is like throwing a dart.

You are the world reknowned watcher I understand.

Sky does all it says on the tin.

One of the mods here has a checker to ascertain roughly what speeds you can get - but I can't find the link anywhere.

Mr Saffron - one the excellent moderators here (it says in ths PM from him) - has an excellent "tool" for estimating potential speeds.

link is below:-

Just been connected and speed tests shows I am downloading at 6790kbs and uploading at 623kbs are these likely to improve: router shows I am connecting at 13281kbs downstrean and 764kbs upstream

The download is a little low for your sync, either try some tweaks or download from a better source. I often get 1.5meg+ downloads, but most sites don't give you that bandwidth not even close.

The download speed will be as fast as the slowest link in the chain, which may or may not be Sky. It wouldn't hurt to download and run TCP Optimizer to make sure your TCP/IP settings are correct for the connection speed.
