Connected and Happy, but...

[link to this post]

I got connected to Sky Max, Happy with the speed, ping is a little high but early days yet.

I don't like the modem they supplied, it's not very feature rich and I don't like the Sky logo on everything... on the unit it's self and on the router login ect...

If I used my own modem would they cut me off?

Also is there anyway of making my ping better?

I used to get 12 - 35 ping in this game server, now it's 60>

Thanks,
Jack

You can phone Sky and ask them to reduce the interleaving on your line to improve the ping.

As for using your own router - the official line is "No", but I've been using my own router for over a year (since day 1), and I've yet to receive a rap across the knuckles ! If you decide to do this, it's best to keep the Sky router, should you ever have line problems, because that's when Sky might notice
