VPN on Sky

[link to this post]

Is VPN available over Sky Broadband?

I've checked the website but can't find anything there. If Sky don't provide username and password details, then I may not be able to use Sky for access for work. My employer needs the details to set up for VPN.

Anyone know?

If you're running a VPN client (e.g. Cisco) on your laptop that is connected to the internet via the Sky router, then it works fine. Don't expect any support from Sky.

If your company is trying to put a special router in that does VPN in the router, then you're out of luck, since you have to use the Sky router, which has a hidden username/password inside it.

Or rip the info out of the Sky router and use something different. That's what I do and have a semi permanent VPN tunnel to my employer.

Could just put a router behind the sky router in the DMZ - that would allow full passthrough and avoid having to rip out the sky router.

Yes, but the OP said he wanted it for his work so he is unlikely to get much if any help from Sky.

Doesn't always work, depends on the VPN technology.

Getting the login id/password out of the router is one for skyuser.co.uk !
