Reversing a Drop in Speed

[link to this post]

I used to sync at a reliable 2Mbps, I got a letter from Sky stating that speeds were increasing. Since that time my upstream has risen a little, but downstream dropped to 1.5Mbps and it no longer varies after a reboot: always 1535kbps.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1535 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 61.5 db 33.2 db
Noise Margin 9.6 db 11.0 db

The SNR margin is higher, it used to be around 6. This is the Sagem router, almost identical stats when connecting to the test socket.

Any advice on how I can get back up-to 2Mbps? Would Sky accept a request to force a new target SNR?

I am considering a migration to Andrews and Arnold, my company is evaluating IPv6 and I'd like to be involved in the testing. Unfortunately I understand that my current speed would see an IP profile of 1280, close to half of what I've been used to getting on LLU!

ADSL really sucks for those of us more than a few thousand metres from the exchange. Doubly annoying given BT has rolled-out FTTC here but largely ignored the areas outside the town centre!

Thanks.

Doug.

I opened a ticket with Sky. They have reset the DLM profile and my modem is now syncing at 2.5Mbps, a 60% increase in throughput smile

Let's hope it remains stable and I don't get reset back to 1.5Mbps
