Had my Sky TV up & running for a few days now, and I'm loving it.
Got the HD pack with the free set-up and box.iew I just miss the ease, look, and simplicity of the Humax Freeview PVR.
I knew what channels where it is and what to watch on it. And then they took Channel One off. It was One step too far.
Just got the TV pack only with Sky - No broadband, and no line into the box. It's a trek searching through the channels. Oh darn it, there are movies on it too. AND there are a Lot of +1 channels. Great, Film4 +1 - Hah, they stopped that on Freeview.
Good stuff Sky - No hurry for Virgin now.
Oh, and Hi Folks!

Oh, and Hi Folks!
Spend some time sorting out "favourites", one click and you lose approx 4832 rubbish channels....and it leaves you with the "rubbish channels that I chose to watch"
Oh!........... Hi to you.

Sky box is far better than Humax IMO!
Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

I've never used a Sky+HD box, but I've been impressed with the Humax Foxsat-HDR.

Heh, I'll definitely get that done soon. I may even get to watch something different to House and the Simpsons.
It beats Freeview.
Virgin One leaving Freeview was the last straw for me.

Virgin One leaving Freeview was the last straw for me. I take it you're aware BSkyB closed Virgin Channel 1?

No use for Sky though iirc. Pity.

Nope - I didn't know that.

The Virgin 1 channel was only started by Virgin Media a few years ago when they argued with Sky as to the price of carrying the Sky owned channels.
So... in 2010 Virgin sold Sky their "entertainment" channel set, previously owned by Telewest/Flextech. This meant that Virgin One was renamed Channel One due to change in ownership. This happened around last summer.
This Feb (2011) the relaunch happened where Living became Sky Living, and Bravo closed, etc, and the programmes on Channel One were transferred to other channels in the Sky owned set - such as Sky 1. Meaning that Channel One wasn't needed.

...so they closed Channel 1 to drive people from Freeview to Sky.
Looks like it worked.

l liked it when virgin were stopped from showing sky 1 they witheld virgin one from sky customers. The virgin customers got upset at loosing sky 1 and sky customers didn't notice.

The VM customers had lost Sky 1, so missed it - the Sky customers had never had Virgin 1, as it was a new channel - so didn't know what they were missing

Sky can be good Guesty, but it can be hard to find something to watch at times ... once the novelty wears off. We have the Family Pack, which does what we need. I have my laptop setup with my eldest brothers details so I can watch sports & movies as well as all the usual channels via Sky Player (live & on demand).

The Sky HD package certainly seems to do for me, certainly at the moment.
I have been watching plenty of programs on it and ones that I do enjoy. There is plenty on it, and it's very good... I s'pose.
Virgin isn't in this area yet, but there really is no need for it now. Sky are doing well here so far. No complaints. I might even try the SkyPlayer. Got a movie booked, so, I won't miss the ads!
