I take it you're aware BSkyB closed Virgin Channel 1?

The Virgin 1 channel was only started by Virgin Media a few years ago when they argued with Sky as to the price of carrying the Sky owned channels.

So... in 2010 Virgin sold Sky their "entertainment" channel set, previously owned by Telewest/Flextech. This meant that Virgin One was renamed Channel One due to change in ownership. This happened around last summer.

This Feb (2011) the relaunch happened where Living became Sky Living, and Bravo closed, etc, and the programmes on Channel One were transferred to other channels in the Sky owned set - such as Sky 1. Meaning that Channel One wasn't needed.

...so they closed Channel 1 to drive people from Freeview to Sky.

Looks like it worked.

The VM customers had lost Sky 1, so missed it - the Sky customers had never had Virgin 1, as it was a new channel - so didn't know what they were missing smile

Sky can be good Guesty, but it can be hard to find something to watch at times ... once the novelty wears off. We have the Family Pack, which does what we need. I have my laptop setup with my eldest brothers details so I can watch sports & movies as well as all the usual channels via Sky Player (live & on demand).

The Sky HD package certainly seems to do for me, certainly at the moment.

I have been watching plenty of programs on it and ones that I do enjoy. There is plenty on it, and it's very good... I s'pose. wink

Virgin isn't in this area yet, but there really is no need for it now. Sky are doing well here so far. No complaints. I might even try the SkyPlayer. Got a movie booked, so, I won't miss the ads!
