Hi
At present with SKY BB with LLU adsl + (I think).
If I want to move provider can I go with any ISP or as I am in a LLU exchange my only opion would be BT then another ISP after that?
Regards

If TalkTalk LLU available they are an option and same with Vodafone.
And if only WBC is the other option, still a long list of providers who sell BT Wholesale services, so BT Consumer is far from being your only option.

A quick google would give you this:

Sorry what is wbc? WBC is BT Wholesale's ADSL2+ and Fibre service. The vast majority of ISPs can provide service over WBC, though some reserve their best deals for locations served by alternative backhaul providers.

You can go to any provider that will offer you a service at your address.

Can I go directly from SKY BB to Plusnet for example?
Thanks

Yes, but there is likely to be a BT reconnect charge to move your phone line back onto the BTW network.

I made the move from Sky LLU to plusnet in Feb and was not hit with any charges or issues, it went smoothly.

Yes why would you not be able to? BT is not the master of the network, nobody forces you to take a service with them! It would not be fair if you had to choose BT would it?
Just make sure you do not ring sky to cancel, if you do it will cause you major issues as sky will terminate your line.
Once sky do this the new provider will not be able to take over the line.
It is now all leading provider led, you ring the new provider e.g. Plusnet and place an order.
As soon as you do this plusnet contact sky on your behalf and notify them they are taking over. sky now will contact you via email text or Letter detailing the costs of you leaving (i.e. If you still have six months left on your contract they'll ask for this).
The new provider takes over your existing line from Sky. Once taken over your new provider contacts the existing provider, in your case Sky and your sky account gets terminated automatically and a final sky bill is sent to you.
New laws mean sky is not legally able to ring you to try and convince you to stay so you should get no hassle.
The new way of doing things means you never need to ring the existing provider and doing so often results in the existing customer service messing everything up as the guys in India often do the wrong thing.

I have been
Sky to talktalk to Virginmedia to talktalk to BT all with no install fees or hassle.

Not really - just the usual migration charges providers levy on FTTC these days.

In case of plusnet in particular, they offer free fibre activation if you take both broadband and line rental from them - otherwise it's still half price at £25.
|
|
|
What service are you looking for, fibre or ADSL?
Most providers have some pretty good deals right now with Black Friday.
You will notice most providers now list the price of broadband inclusive of line rental. IE talktalk say £27 for fibre, the price you see includes the line rental. BT do the same as well.

While their deals are sometimes lower than usual - not as spectacular as previous years

It is now all leading provider led, you ring the new provider e.g. Plusnet and place an order. This is a little bit confusing. You surely mean Gaining-provider led - i.e. you place an order with who you want to supply you broadband and they handle the move.

Do you know how much the reconnect charge is if any?

Think I may have called that wrong. It appears I may have been mistaken.

It can vary online, if you order over the phone they will almost always install for free.
