My connection apparently went live last Friday, but I haven't been able to connect at all. No internet light on the router, not even trying to synch to the exchange.
I know the router is ok as it synchs up on another line in the house which still has the previous occupants ADSL service on it.
I know the phone line is ok - voice is fine.
Sky got me to try various things (the usual stuff - Microfilters, reboot, blah blah) - still no joy.
Now they are saying there are "problems" at my exchange (Wallasey) and that no one will be getting broadband from this exchange (this is nonsense as I have friends who are on the same exchange and are fine). I don't think they have a clue really, other than saying it "should" all be ok.
Anyone had similar problems in the area, or have any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

Are the "problems" actually with the Easynet LLU equipment at the exchange?
UKonline please use you're, your and they're, there, their and to, too and its, it's correctly:

I believe they are. I phoned Sky this morning, they checked again and are saying there is a DSLAM issue which has been ongoing since 13th Sept with no resolution date as yet.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good.
I assume your friends with working ADSL are not with Sky/UKonline/Easynet then?

No they're not.
Are these common problems at Exchanges then, and why do they take so long to fix?

I read that Easynet had a load of exchange equipment stolen. Where is Wallasey - somewhere near Liverpool?
|
|
|
|
Yes Wallasey is in liverpool!

Not enough to cripple and most of the stuff that was stolen was replaced within 8 hours of it happening.
Whatever was pinched, did not do to much damage as only a handful of people noticed something was wrong. It took 5 days for the press to find out, and then I bet only after been tipped off.

What on earth are the thieves going to do with the stolen kit?
Maybe they'll pop into Charles Dunstone's local and offer him some hot DSLAMs, "they fell off the back of a lorry Guv", no questions asked?
