sky installed last night/ afew questions

i got sky running last night as the migration from virgin completed yesterday while i was at work.

line sync is 15.3 mb, but the speed tests show i am downloading at around 7mb, is this good or bad for sky. when i was asking the questions on signing up i was promised more than the 7mb i am seeing.i am 900m line length from the exchange

are there any diagnostic programs that will work with the sky/netgear router that will show signal to noise ratio and line attenuation.
