Sky router slower than others?

Hi, 1st post on this site . but ive been reading the forum for a few weeks. and it as been a great help.
I had sky max activated on thur after being on bt option 4 fixed at 1mb the fastest bt said my line could take. As soon as sky was activated i got a 2400-2800 connection which is a good improvement on what i had, but decided to plug my linskys wag 54 in to the connection , straight away 3800 kbs and a lot better relsults on speedtests. also my line stats on the sky router shows 57db atten and 9 for noise,where my linskys shows 51db att 9 noise.
I have repeated this over the last 2 days with the same results,. Anyone got any ideals why? as my linskys is not even adsl2. Are the sky routers just not very good or is it settings.
Overall im very happy 3 times the speed and 1 third the price i was paying, and no disconnections. Tim

Did the sky router use ADSL2+ or ADSL1 to connect?

Hi, not sure about that , how do i find out. I know my exchange is adsl2. thanks tim
