Last Friday I was at work and received complaints from home that the internet was not working.
Upon my arrival back home, I found that the router had no power going to it. So I pulled out the PSU from the Netgear that I had up and working before receiving Sky's box and it all burst into life again.
Saturday morning I came down to find that the router now had no sync. We were going out for the day and that night, so left it alone. (Apart from trying a reboot and power cycle).
Sunday came and there was still no sync. This time I called Sky's helpline. Got through within mins and they proceded to go through their standard noddy checks (Reboot, Reset to factory, PC), then they asked me to connect the router to my master socket.
Now I told them that I have a filtered socket as when I first got BB, BT were still coming around to install it. They were quite insistant that I do this. We were going out for Lunch, so left it for then.
Came back and called to say that I had 'connected it to the master socket' and they was still no sync. They could not do anything more and passed it to Tier 3.
Tuesday I still hadn't heard anything. Due to some issues with the wireless link around the house, which meant I was having trouble streaming Music to my PDA, I decided to connect my old Netgear up until Sky had resolved my issue.
Once all wires were connected I checked the front and... yes you guessed it I had sync... DOH!
Called Sky and explained what had happened and they agreed to send out a new router, which I am still waiting for.
I haven't been able to get online until tonight, when I was back at work, to get the URL to enable me to extract my UID/PWD from the sky box.
Once I get home this morning, I'll sort it out.
So I'm kicking myself over two things..
1) - Why didn't I try the old Netgear first?
2) - Why didn'y I extract my UID/PWD anyway...
Still I'll let you know once the new router arrives and if it's any better then the original one I received.
Many Thanks,
Paul Ryder.
PS I had found a website that enabled you to set up the router (SRA/SNR) from it directly (Lots of buttons to directly access the router), does this ring a bell with any one?
