Does Sky use a BT line?

Or are they able to overcome it with their satellite dishes?

I still can't get a better connection than 512k and was wondering if Sky would be able to improve things when they launch in Aberdeen in 6 months time?

They simply use a BT phone line.

To find out what chance you may have of getting better speeds when Sky LLU arrives, visit:

http://www.dslzoneuk.net/maxspeed2.php

My line on Sky Connect can support 3.5MB, however my individual line stats suggest that when Sky arrives in a month or two is will be 8MB. Can't see it, but wait and see.

Sky Broadband - Connect.

I just had a look on there and it says "Based on the attenuation you entered, we estimate that your line can support around 2.0 - 4.0 Mbps on ADSL2+."
