what should i be on

hi,can someone answer this for me, i,m paying for sky max,upto 16mb service.
i live 1.29km from exchange
line attenuation downstream is 48.0db
upstream 31.5db
noise margin 7.1db downstream
upstream 14.0db
DownStream Connection Speed 6464 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 768 kbps
my router shows i.m on gdmt surely i should be on adsl+2.
there is easynet/sky in my exchange.

You probably won't see any benefit with ADSL2+, given your attenuation.

where abouts in the sky router does it mention g.dmt?
If you're not using the sky router what are you using?

what actually is attenuation,and what governs its db,is there away of making it better, i mean1.29km from exchange i thought was a good distance for broadband as i,d been led to believe up to 3km was the cut of for good speeds.

its a measurement of the resistance of your line, how much it reduces the signal. It is related to line length which can take a meandering route to the exchange, not a straight line. What ADSL2+ does is use extra frequencies which increases the attenuation of your line, so your speed will be hit. The overall effect will be you probably won't see a great increase in speed and the reliability of your connection could be worsened.

The best way to improve attenuation is to shorten the line - move house closer to the exchange for example.
