Noob question alert.

[link to this post]

I am thinking of migrating to Sky BB , my exchange is due to be unbundled in the next 3 months.
I already have a sky box and dish which is over 5 years old , i can only use the scart socket as the RF side of things went belly up ages ago.

Do you get a new box and dish when you sign up ?

Is the broadband side separate to the sky TV Box?

I have a Wireless Modem/router can i use this instead of the Sky one ?

Are you a sky tv subscriber?
Its nothing to do with the Sky tv box.
You will break the t&c's by using a different router.

I used to be a subscriber but now just use it for the free channels.

If you re-subscribe, they'll swap out anything that's not working but might try and charge you a discounted rate. Drag your heels if they do and you'll end up with it free.
A mention of BT Vision had my 50 quote for a new box reduced to 0 in about 30 seconds.

You don't actually need a new box if the one you have is working ok. Sky should just supply you with a viewing card and away you go.
