stats ok for ADSL2+ switch

[link to this post]

Hi

Just migrated from BT to sky last week (max package). The sky speeds are much improved from BT, now 7mb download speed :-)

Are the router stats below decent enough to ask sky to take me off the GDMT profile
and try ADSL2+ for greater speeds or Is my error rate to high?

Many Thanks

I realise my attenuation is a reasonable figure (29). but my main concern is the stats
for my crc errors etc. I have no idea if they are good or bad.?

I have read that a high amount of errors = a noisey line which may not be acceptable
for ADSL2+

that lines good for Full 16mb sync, forget the errors, with 14db SNR @ 8mb you'll be laughin, 16mb no problems, the fact that your not already on ADSL2+ stinks, sky should have already put your line onto it.

My sync was 8096 and I was downloading from newsgroups at a rock solid 6.5mb continually but it was lowered to 7138 after a week. My attenuation is 30db and my s/n is 15db. I asked to go on adsl2+ and they flat turned me down and said that according to them I should only be getting about 4mb and I was doing well to get the speed I was. I was almost permanently synced to Zen at 8128 for over a year with no problem that I was aware of.

I don't know enough about this to argue with them. Given what the comments are to the earlier post, it appears that I should have adsl2 but am I overlooking something?

Happy to take on board any comments anyone may have.

Thanks but it was Tier 3 that told me that. Perhaps I'll give them another go.

Umm.. in that case they must see the errors on your line , hope they never see mine

My Line is not liking the rain today on 2+

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8527 kbps 533 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 29.8 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db 5.0 db

Or G.DMT

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7616 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 30.0 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 7.0 db

Still for 10 who cares

I had an e-mail reply from them after I asked for my line to be put on adsl2. I gave them my line stats but they just said that I'm 2.37 km from the exchange and therefore the line's max speed is 8mb.

So, according to that logic, line stats don't matter - it's all to do with how far away you are from the exchange.

That doesn't sound right to me but I'm no expert. Anyone got any views?
