Router Stops Responding

[link to this post]

Hello,

I seem to be having intermittent problems with Sky Broadband. The internet will stop working but my laptop will remain connected to the WiFi network showing an excellent strength signal. I am however unable to ping the sky netgear router or connect to it via its web interface. I can resolve this by switching the router off and then back on again.

I have contacted Sky about this and they said the problem was that the router was syncing at too high a speed for the telephone lines quality and reduced the connection speed to 5mbit/sec. This does not seem to have fixed the problem however.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

PS I am now testing my old netgear router to see if this resolves the problem but would prefer to use the one Sky provided if possible.

Regards,
Peter

You could try turning off the UPnP - sometimes can cause this problem.

Sorry I should have mentioned I have already turned off UPnP whilst trying to solve this.
