Only getting under 2mb on sky max

[link to this post]

I was connected with sky broadband max on 5/9/07 and been getting very low dl speeds since I been connected namely starts at around 4mb and then goes down to as low as 1mb.

I have contacted sky support and tonight tier3 phone me and my connection is still the same if not worse.Said they would send me a new sky router is this the likely cause of my problems.

I was with bethere and getting 18mb dl speed and I have a prefiltered faceplate.

sky router netgear DG834GT

Have you tried changing the TCP/IP settings (MTU etc) ?

Try downloading and running TCP Optimizer if you haven't.

Version 2.0.3 works with Vista. In theory, Vista shouldn't need tweaking.

You know you are only on ADSL1? Your sync speed is 8Mb but if you used to get 18Mb on be then you should be on ADSL2. Sky need to sort that anyway and probably won't be fixed by a new router.

It is not so much a cap as the wrong mode you are on G.DMT on Sky that is a max sync of 8096; to get more you need to be moved over to ADSL2+ >16Mbs it is a very common problem, good luck with the call back they seldom ever do (well not when your in) I try get them to call my mobile but they never do.
