Outsourced ISP

[link to this post]

Hey,

I recently inquired about the braodband side of these Sky deals, and was told that 'cause I live in the middle of nowhere (the neglected south-west), they'd have to outsource the broadband to someone else. I'd just like to know, will this outsourced service be guarenteed to be as good as the regular Sky one? I currently have Nildram, will it be any worse?

Cheers.

Sorry I dont understand the outsourced bit. If your exchange isnt LLUd then you will be connected via BT on the Connect package, you will still have access to the same customer services but the connection will be via BTWholesale, the same as you have now with Nildram.

I'm not exactly sure either, but we were told by Sky that they don't cover our area, and so they'd need to 'outsource' and charge an extra 17/mo. for it.

If we were connected through this BTWholesale thing, will it still be with the same conditions as Sky (40GB limit etc.), and the same quality?

You will be subject to Sky T&Cs but connected in the same way as you are now. So not much difference in ping, assuming that the peering to Sky is similar to your existing provider. You just have the new T&Cs to deal with.
