See HERE for how to set up your e-mail client - I send & receive from several different accounts via Sky, using both Windows Mail & Outlook Express on various computers.

I had difficulty too sending from my own domain. Also, Sky e-mail used to hi-jack my return address so that all replies were sent to my sky.com address.

I signed up for AuthSMTP at 14 a year. Excellent service! This is for 1000 e-mails a month which suits me but you can send more by paying more. Have a look at their site and see if it suits you:

You have to setup sending from an alternate account within the webmail page.

The problem as most have found out is that googlemail (that sky use) changes the reply to address to be the mailbox you send through which is useless if you have your own domain name with mail forwarder.

I got around this partly by using an SMTP client on my PC to send mail directly BUT I also found out that Sky have listed their IP range on a blacklist for sending email so some email servers refuse it from my PC. The only other way around that is to get an SMTP service from your domain host to send mail through and either use the mailbox they provide (Purple Cloud would charge me 5 for mine per year) or find a free SMTP host provider that is not blacklisted (should be most companies)

OK to set up sky email correctly you need to log onto skys email online

1. go to mail settings

2. go to 'ACCOUNTS'

3. ADD another email address - the one you want to send and receive from

4. select the option : Reply from the same address the message was sent to.

5. go to forwading and pop/imap

6. diable forwarding

7. set POP to enable - Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 10:42

8. When messages are accessed with POP - delete sky mails copy

9. ignore imap unless u use it

NOW:- follow the link sky gives you to set up your email client, i CBA to write it out now, im going on holiday in 1 hour see ya.

I did all that and still Sky/Google hijacked my mail and inserted a Sky.com return address on my domain mail which I do not want! I don't have any problem now with the SMTP Server I now use. Pity Sky have to do it...I have never experienced it with any other ISP

It's easy enough (once you go through the FAQs) to set up to send any mail via Sky's SMTP it's just that darned interference with return addresses that I don't like!!

I've just run a test - I sent myself a test email to my business email address, which forwards all mail back to me. The email address I use is my own domain which is hosted by Dataflame. The email that was forwarded back did not have any sky.com changes - mind you, I have never set up a Sky email account, so I don't know how it could !
