Considering Sky Max

[link to this post]

Can I use my existing Speedtouch router?
I have Sky+ with the full viewing packages, do I have to pay a 25 connection fee?.
How many sky email addresses can I have?.
Forgot to add, I sync at 8128 with throughput of 7150

All replies gratefully received.

Hi Wingco

You know it makes sense.

As for using your own router, the T and C's deny that, but a lot of people do, and there is not one known case of anyone being kicked off for doing so.

You will get at least that if not more

One-off standard set-up is £30 for new customers joining online or £25 for existing customers taking Sky Broadband only5

Existing customers - get free activation (save £25) when you add Sky Talk Freetime at the same time – giving you free UK6 evening and weekend calls for no monthly fee or minimum term contract.

Thanks Ged. What's making me dither is the announcement that Max is "unlimited", it will probably attract the download the internet brigade Currently my usage is around 5gig per month. I would hate to get into a 12 month contract and find the service goes downhill.

It has been effectively that since it started I guess. The "heavy mob" would have sussed that long ago I reckon so I can only see a marginal difference if any.

Sky mail is basically Gmail, so I don't see much advantage in using it myself, better Gmail and stay ISP independent if and when you move again.

Just a tad sad..a wee bit old...

Makes sense. Thanks Don. I suppose at 10 per month buying out the remainder of a 12 month contract won't be too expensive.

Sky to the best of my knowledge, have never ever enforced this, as per Don's answer.

I wouldn't worry about capacity - they have plenty, and I mean plenty.

5GB a month is nothing, people do over 1TB and never get told off.

A couple more questions.
I assume Sky issue MACs rather than a cease?.
Do Sky allow me to send emails with other than a sky.com senders address?.

<<<<< I assume Sky issue MACs rather than a cease?.

Sky issue MACs and I presume if you wanted to a cease.

<<<<< Do Sky allow me to send emails with other than a sky.com senders address?

Technically no, although there are ways around it.

Use the SMTP service that we offer, its free, and does what it says on the can. You would then have no limit on email addys and you can authenticate on any ISP's network, anywhere in the world
